Newsletter 2021 - 6
Soil and groundwater contamination has been very hot in belgium. Pfas contamination has been in the media for different weeks. The soil industry had already been aware for some time that the attention on pfas would increase in the coming years. Although it is important in the first place to identify the contamination, we also want to think about possible solutions. In this newsletter, we will discuss a few projects we are performing on persistent pollutants. We have obtained european funding to investigate the removal of pfas from water streams with innovative adsorption materials. We have also conducted research into the treatment of monochlorobenzene, which is a difficult to biodegrade contaminant. Finally, we present a project in which we are performing various biological and chemical tests for treating very high chlorinated solvent concentrations, on behalf of the ovam.

Newsletter 2021 / 2
In this first newsletter of the new year we want to focus on injection technologies. We first provide an overview of the various possible injection techniques and the factors that play a role in the selection of an injection technique. The correct implementation strategy is crucial for the success of an in situ remediation project since the success largely depends on bringing the injection product into contact with the contamination. Next, we discuss an interesting comparative study we conducted at a site to determine the effect of different carbon sources and bioaugmentation on the degradation of a chlorinated solvent contamination. Finally, we also present our new lab in which we perform tests to determine the feasibility of injection techniques but in which we can also perform other tests such as the evaluation of the effectiveness of adsorbents.
We wish you a hopeful 2021!

Newsletter 2020 / 12
So far, we have been bringing news with our dutch newsletter. In order to inform our non-dutch speaking audience, we start now with an english newsletter in which we aim to bring you some news on our innovations and activities.
In this newsletter we will show two excavation projects for the removal of asbestos and a petroleum contamination. We will also present the results of an injection pilot test in which we have successfully used permanganate and we show the lab results for a new reactor for the treatment of 1,4-dioxane.
We wish you a lot of courage and a good health in these uncertain times!
