Case: InSuFix
InSuFix: research project on in situ immobilization of PFAS
Location: site of Brussels Airport Company and Port of Antwerp Bruges
Contamination: PFAS in groundwater
Area: 100 m²
Depth: Up to 10 m
Period: 2025- 2027
Status: lab and pilot test
About this project:
In this project we investigate how PFAS can be permanently fixed in the soil via injection of surface modified clay. For this purpose, special injection tools are being developed and applied at two test sites of Brussels Airport Company and Port of Antwerp-Bruges. Under the guidance of VITO, the long-term stability of this technique is also being evaluated.
Partners: Sodecon, Injectis, VITO, Brussels Airport Company, Port of Antwerp-Bruges, with support from i-Flux, Enissa, ABO and Witteveen+Bos.
This project underscores our commitment to innovation in soil remediation and our role in developing hands-on solutions to complex contaminants.
